Virtue

Is virtue a lost value? Sometimes it feels like the world has given up on striving for virtue. The world may have given up on it, but  I will not. A virtuous woman is worth far more than rubies (Proverb 31:10). The same could certainly be said for a virtuous man. We need more men and women with a strong sense of right and wrong who recognize the difference between virtue and vice. I am doing my best to be a virtuous woman and to raise virtuous children of God. I value the knowledge that I have of why it is so important to live a virtuous life.

                                                                            Virtue Quotes

“Along your pathway of life you will observe that you are not the only traveler. There are others who need your help. There are feet to steady, hands to grasp, minds to encourage, hearts to inspire, and souls to save.” Thomas S. Monson, A Time to Choose, April 1995 General Conference General Young Women Meeting

“We are under covenant both to lift up those in need and to be witnesses of the Savior as long as we live. We will be able to do it without fail only as we feel love for the Savior and His love for us. As we are faithful to the promises we have made, we will feel our love for Him. It will increase because we will feel His power and His drawing near to us in His service.” President Henry B. Eyring, "Come Unto Me" April 2013 General Conference

“We must not pick and choose which commandments we think are important to keep but acknowledge all of God’s commandments. We must stand firm and steadfast, having perfect confidence in the Lord’s consistency and perfect trust in His promises.” L. Tom Perry, "Obedience to Law is Liberty" April 2013 General Conference

“Today we find ourselves in another war. This is not a war of armaments. It is a war of thoughts, words, and deeds. It is a war with sin, and more than ever we need to be reminded of the commandments. Secularism is becoming the norm, and many of its beliefs and practices are in direct conflict with those that were instituted by the Lord Himself for the benefit of His children.” L. Tom  Perry, "Obedience to Law is Liberty" April 2013 General Conference

“Marriage is the foundry for social order, the fountain of virtue, and the foundation for eternal exaltation.” Russell M. Nelson, "Nurturing Marriage" April 2006 General Conference

"Recognize the good in others, not their stains. At times a stain needs appropriate attention to be cleansed, but always build on his or her virtues." Richard G. Scott, "For Peace at Home" April 2013 General Conference

"Of all the creations of the Almighty there is none more beautiful, none more inspiring than a lovely daughter of God who walks in virtue with an understanding of why she should do so, who honors and respects her body as a thing sacred and divine, who cultivates her mind and constantly enlarges the horizon of her understanding, who nurtures her spirit with everlasting truth" Gordon B. Hinckley, “Words of the Prophet: Daughters of the Almighty,” New Era, Nov 2003, 4

“Let us encourage every woman who questions her value to turn to her Heavenly Father and His glorified Son for a supernal confirmation of her immense individual worth. I testify that as each woman seeks it in faith and obedience, the Savior will continually prompt her through the Holy Ghost. That guidance will lead her to fulfillment, peace, and a consuming joy through magnifying her divinely appointed, sacred womanhood.” Richard G. Scott "The Sanctity of Womanhood", April 2000 General Conference

"Brethren, as we honor womanhood, each daughter of God will be encouraged to do likewise.”Richard G. Scott "The Sanctity of Womanhood", April 2000 General Conference

“Like the woman who anonymously, meekly, perhaps even with hesitation and some embarrassment, fought her way through the crowd just to touch the hem of the Master’s garment, so Christ will say to the women who worry and wonder and sometimes weep over their responsibility as mothers, “Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole.” Jeffrey R. Holland "Because She is a Mother", April 1997 General Conference

“There is nothing more important in this world than participating so directly in the work and glory of God, in bringing to pass the mortality and earthly life of His daughters and sons, so that immortality and eternal life can come in those celestial realms on high.” Jeffrey R. Holland "Because She is a Mother", April 1997 General Conference

“The Lord’s truth is not altered by fads, popularity, or public opinion polls. I promise that obedience to the law of chastity will increase our happiness in mortality and make possible our progress in eternity. Chastity and virtue are now, always have been, and always will be “most dear and precious above all things” David A. Bednar "We Believe in Being Chaste" April 2013 General Conference
